Adam was born and raised in the hills of Huntington, West
Virginia. The Booth side of his family can talk forever
about anything, often never knowing when to quit, while his
maternal side has a five-thousand year tradition of
storytelling (and intelligent gesticulative humor!). The
convergence of these two entities forms the basis of Adam's
storytelling abilities.
Adam came to professional storytelling by researching
storyteller Bil Lepp for a college report. Inspired by
Lepp's success, Adam was prompted to try his hand at the
West Virginia Liar's Contest. After several impressive and
audience-favorite performances in that contest, including
two state titles, Adam was encouraged to spin yarn outside
of the state. His first out-of-state contest — the 2006
Northeast Storytelling Festival — was a success! Since then
he has entertained audiences of all ages across a
multi-state area with his original tales of rollercoaster
races, flying tourist attractions, accidental Civil War
reenactments, a fantastic Jewish mother, a bicycle built
for too many, and much more!!
Adam is highly influenced by the stories that he heard (and
continues to hear) from his great-grandparents and
grandparents. Storytelling was always present at family
celebrations and holiday gatherings and is a very important
part of his life.
