My new collaborative project is Undercover Emma: Soldier, Nurse, and Spy. Featuring the storytelling talents of Adam Booth and Miriam Nicholson, Undercover Emma is a tandem story that tells the life of Sarah Emma Edmonds.

Come hear the historical story of Emma as she flees her arranged marriage and her home country of Canada to become an undercover bookseller in the United States and then on to become a soldier and spy in the Union army during the Civil War!

Interested in booking Adam and Miriam for a show? We can tell Undercover Emma as a program itself or with a set of stories, including tall tales and train stories. Call or e-mail today to add us to your organization's calendar!

Miriam Nicholson majored in math as an undergraduate, but her favorite class at college was an American History elective. She discovered her passion for Storytelling as a pastor preparing a Sunday sermon. Since then her proclamation of the Gospel has often involved the use of stories. While pursuing a Master of Education in Storytelling at East Tennessee State University, Miriam drew on a childhood love of trains to expand her repertoire with historical tales and railroad lore. In 2004 she received a grant from the National Storytelling Network to interview and write stories about the Harvey Girls, a group of women who served as waitresses for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad. She is a member of the Susquehanna Storytellers Guild and is on the Executive Committee of Storytelling in Higher Education, a special interest group of NSN. Miriam has enthralled audiences at the Northeast Storytelling Festival, local schools and the Pennsylvania State Railroad Museum.
